Laser Genesis is a 1064 Nd:yag laser. This unique laser procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat fine-line wrinkles, diffuse and excessive redness, uneven skin texture, scars, and helps diminish large pores. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Treatments are performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel.

 

This laser treatment is a “non-ablative” laser procedure and is extremely safe on all skin types, even tanned skin. It works by gently heating the collagen in deeper layers of your skin. The laser light passes through the skin’s surface to reach the deeper layer where collagen exists, like light through glass, leaving the skin’s surface intact. By gradually heating the deeper layer, the body responds naturally, over time, to thicken existing collagen and stimulate new collagen fibers to begin to grow. This is the ultimate “anti-aging” procedure.

This treatment feels like warm, gentle drops of water on your skin. It is not uncomfortable at all. Most patients enjoy the gradual warming of the skin as treatment progresses. Your practitioner will communicate with you during the entire procedure, ensuring your comfort and safety. At no time is this treatment painful.

On average, you may require 6 to 8 treatments, 2 to 4 weeks apart in order to achieve optimal results. Results can vary with each patient depending upon their goals and degree of improvement desired. Since, unfortunately, the aging process cannot be prevented and skin will continue to incidentally receive exposure to the environment, continuing to stimulate new collagen is very important. Therefore, maintenance treatments are recommended every 3 to 6 months to ensure continued skin improvement and delay collagen breakdown.

Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common are a mild warmth and temporary pinkness of the skin that disappears within a few hours after the treatment. Other than this, you should expect no downtime whatsoever after the procedure. You may apply a light make-up immediately after the treatment if you desire. Avoid heat – i.e: hot tubs, saunas, excessive sweating and washing the area in any hot water for 48 hrs after treatment. A sunblock of at least SPF30 must be worn daily to the areas being treated and sun exposure should be kept to a minimum for 1-2 weeks following treatments.
